John Gilner is a full-time professional trader of stocks, futures, and options. Trading full-time since 2003, John began with a focus on SPX index options and over time has gravitated to focus primarily on single stocks due to the fact that there are more opportunities for high-reward/low-risk trades represented in single stocks. John trades his own accounts exclusively and trades every day, spending a full day at the trading desk, working from about one hour prior to the market open until about 2 hours after, then reading global news feeds into the evening.

Prior to becoming a full-time trader, John owned, along with 4 other partners, a small manufacturing business in Southern California that provided products to the concrete construction industry. Prior to that he worked for two different health care management companies and was a CPA with Ernst & Young in the early 1990’s. John holds an MBA in Finance from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor’s in Public Accounting from California State University.
